"There Ain't No Age For Rock 'n' Roll" was a prophetical song of The Veterans in 1979. A statement carvable in stone even 30 years later. Rock veterans like David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Deep Purple, Santana, Supertramp, Pink Floyd or The Rolling Stones are still fascinating millions cross-generationally. In Germany, the pop- and rock-olymp is well-staffed with experienced rock-artists e.g., Nena, Udo Lindenberg, The Scorpions, Peter Maffay, Herbert Grönemeyer and Marius Müller-Westernhagen. All of them share one thing in common: Their age has already exceeded the allegedly target group age limit of rock which is supposed to be around 49.

Why not setting up a band of musicians who themselves have exceeded this age limit, too? So, in 2009 the German band "Die Grabflüchter" (syn. The Grave Refugees) was born. Now one might ask what the hell a "Grabfluechter" is about? Ingo Appelt, a well-known German comedian describes them as "people who, despite sprawling retirement benefits refuse to bite the dust".

"Die Grabflüchter" are perfectly made to measure their 53 years old vocalist and pianist Chris Rahn. He is not only the exotic iridescent front-man but responsible for all music, lyrics and arrangements of their songs, as well. The unbelievable sound experience is performed by highly-trained musicians with extraordinary sound- and rhythm feelings: Christiane Sattler (keyboards), Bettina Henrich (drums, vocals), Ray Gee (bass) and Peter Wetzel (guitar).

In 2009, Chris Rahn (DVM, MBE) decided to quit his job after years of professional work as a general manager in order to solely focus on something which has always been an important part of his personality: Song writing. It is the contrasts, which make up Chris Rahn's life, which move him and which provide his life with a virtually merry power.

Contrasts do not only exist in the relation of the band name to the band itself or in Chris Rahn's vita. They are also found in the harmony-driven rock songs. Relaxed and smooth piano sounds evolve into vital and high-class hard-rock. No signs of outdated or antiquated sound patterns! Most songs develop "from somewhere", until hammering rhythms come up and compete with strings, choirs and nonetheless Chris' unique voice. Again followed by softly singing instruments which bend smooth melody bows - just contrasts.

The poetic lyrics live from scurrility and surrealism like e.g., "A Hen's Prayer": A hen in a battery farm which in light of her poor life prays to God to let her die. Or the chastening song "The Battlefield", which tells about a soldier, who proudly laid into war for his country and who, finally experienced the horror, before he lost his life on the battlefield.

Eleven song treasures are gracing release "No. 1", "The Grabflüchter" want to be in the public eye with. No less a figure than Stevie B-Zet produced this all around consistent album. Being a keyboarder and producer Stevie earned his first merits with electronic music, above all with his project "Astral Pilot", which he produced in cooperation with the German "techno pope" Sven Väth. However, Stevie quickly broadened his music array and produced the mega-seller "Bilder von Dir" (syn. Pictures of You) of the German Laith Al-Deen.

For rock and pop-fans album "No. 1" is a first-class listening experience.
